April Outdoor Lion's Learning
Once again, students at Francestown Elementary School celebrated Outdoor Lion’s Learning, this time with a focus on the wonders of water. In April's session, students explored the connections between pollinators in the garden and the health of nearby water.
With the help of Kara from the Harris Center, students examined macro aquatic invertebrates and vertebrates, learning how these creatures play a vital role in the environment. They then made their way to the river, equipped with nets, hoping to catch some of their own. We were in luck! The students discovered caddisflies, dragonfly nymphs, tadpoles, and even fish.
To wrap up the day, students worked with local artist Julie Brown to complete a mural.
